AI Assistant & Agent Workflows
The in-editor AI Assistant can read your project, make small edits, propose bigger ones for your approval — and run multi-step agent workflows that carry a whole goal to completion, like auditing your configurator or pricing it from a spreadsheet. You stay in charge throughout: every sensitive change waits for your explicit Apply, and everything the AI does is undoable.
What the assistant can do
- Read and explain your project — blocks, variants, materials, pricing, conditional rules, even the part names inside your 3D model files.
- Make small, safe edits immediately — rename a block, add a variant. Each applied change shows an Undo button in the chat.
- Propose risky changes for your approval — pricing, SKUs, deletions, and bulk edits appear as a proposal card listing every change; nothing happens until you press Apply.
- Run agent workflows — multi-step plans for whole goals ("check this configurator", "make the upholstery configurable", "price it from this catalogue"), shown as a live progress card with a step checklist.
Running a project audit
- 1Open your project in the editor and click the AI Assistant button in the header.
- 2Ask something like "Check this configurator" or "Audit this project".
- 3A workflow card appears in the chat with a step checklist — inspecting the project, validating references, checking pricing and SKU coverage — ticking off each step as it runs.
- 4You get a health score (0–100) with every finding listed and split into two groups: safe fixes the AI can clean up for you, and decisions that need you (because changing them would change what your shoppers see).
Fixing the safe problems
After an audit, say "Fix the safe problems". The workflow validates the project again and proposes one change that lists every dead reference it wants to remove — for example price entries pointing at variants that no longer exist.
- 1Review the proposal card — it names every entry that would be removed.
- 2Press Apply to run the cleanup (or Decline to keep everything as-is).
- 3The workflow re-checks the project and reports your health score before and after.
Building material options
Ask for the option you want in plain language, for example: "Make the upholstery configurable with Oak, Walnut and Black".
- 1The AI inspects your 3D model and works out which parts are likely the right target.
- 2When it is not sure — say two candidate parts both look like the seat — it stops and asks you, with the choices shown as buttons right in the workflow card.
- 3If a material with a very similar name already exists in your library, it asks whether to reuse it or create a new one, instead of silently duplicating.
- 4It creates the Select Material block, its variants, and the part targeting, then validates the result.
The finished block is a normal Select Material block — open it in Options mode and edit it like any other.
Pricing from a catalogue
Have a price list? Ask the assistant to price the project from it, and upload the file when prompted — CSV, Excel (XLSX), or JSON.
- 1The analysis shows what was detected: row and column counts, and which column looks like the product, variant, SKU, and price.
- 2If several price-like columns exist (say retail, dealer, and cost), the workflow asks which one is the customer-facing price — it never picks for you.
- 3Duplicate SKUs or rows with missing prices stop the workflow with a question (skip them or stop), instead of guessing a value.
- 4All price and SKU changes are presented as proposals — review the full list and press Apply.
Checking publish-readiness
Ask "Is this ready to publish?" and the workflow runs a deep validation plus commerce and sharing checks, ending in a readiness verdict: ready, ready with warnings, or not ready — with the reasons listed.
Limits & good to know
- Agent workflows need AI switched on for your Simplio3D platform. If the assistant only answers from the knowledge base and never shows a workflow card, ask your administrator to enable it.
- Long workflows pause and resume automatically — a big catalogue import may take several rounds, with the progress card keeping you posted.
- You can cancel any workflow at any time from its card; completed steps keep their (approved) results.
- The assistant here never answers its own questions and never approves its own changes — you press the answer buttons and the Apply button. That holds everywhere: approving a change is something only you can do, in Simplio3D.
- Closing the chat does not lose a workflow. Every run is listed under Dashboard → AI Workflows, where you can see what is waiting on you, answer its questions, apply or decline its changes, and pick up something you started in an earlier session.
- The same workflows can be run from apps you connect — Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code, set up under Dashboard → Integrations → AI Connections. They put the workflow's questions to you in their own chat and send back your choice, and they too can only point you at a change to approve, never approve it. - A long request may finish in two replies. Each reply has a working allowance for looking things up in your project. When a request uses it all, the assistant stops and writes up what it found or changed, what is outstanding and the next step, and shows a Continue button — one tap picks up from there. Nothing is lost, and anything already applied stays applied. Splitting a big ask ("add the colour options", then "target them at the cabinet body") usually avoids it altogether.
- Team members need Editor rights (or higher) in your workspace to run workflows that change the project; Viewers can run read-only ones like the audit.
- Honest boundaries: modular snap setup stays hands-on — the AI can create a modular project and attach your modules, but module variants and snap sides are authored in the editor. Bills of materials (BOMs) are not automated; the closest capability is SKU mapping.
