Customer Information Balloons
Some options need explaining: what a finish is, what a size includes, how it changes delivery. Add a heading and a description to a block, and an info icon appears beside its title. Your customers open it when they want the detail, and the configurator stays uncluttered when they don't.
Set it up
- 1Open your project and go to Options.
- 2Select the block you want to explain.
- 3In Block Properties, find Customer Information, under Block Name.
- 4Type a Heading, a Description, or both. The preview under the fields shows the balloon as you type.
- 5Your project saves automatically. Open Preview and click the icon beside the block's title to check it.
To remove a balloon, clear both fields. The icon goes with them.
Example
On a dropdown named Finish:
| Field | What you type |
|---|---|
| Heading | What is powder coating? |
| Description | A baked-on finish that resists scratches and fading. Adds 3 days to delivery. |
Customers see Finish with an info icon beside it, and the icon opens that text.
What your customers can do
| To | They can |
|---|---|
| Open the balloon | Click the icon, tap it on a phone, or focus it and press Enter or Space |
| Close it | Press Escape, click or tap anywhere outside, or use the icon again |
The balloon stays inside the window, or inside the frame on your website, on phones too. A long description scrolls inside the balloon.
What you can write
| Field | Limit | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Heading | 80 characters | Optional. A heading on its own is enough. |
| Description | 600 characters | Optional. A description on its own is enough, and line breaks are kept. |
Both are plain text. Links and formatting aren't supported, and anything that looks like HTML shows exactly as you typed it. The text isn't translated, so write it in the language your customers read.
Which blocks have one
Every block with a title in the configurator: Dropdown, Select Material, Thumbnail Selector, Checkbox, Toggle Switch, Carousel, File Upload, Text Input, Number Input, Pattern Designer, Design Canvas, Modular, and Section Header, whether it is a divider or a tab.
If you switch off Show Block Title, the icon still shows, on its own. If conditional logic hides a block, its icon is hidden with it.
| Block | Why it has no balloon |
|---|---|
| Fixed Material | Customers don't see this block, so it has no title. |
| Scenery | Customers don't see this block, so it has no title. |
| Hotspot | It already opens its own popup. Use Popup Content instead. |
